Apparently "nail pops" are a common phenomenon in newly constructed houses. The contractors give it a meh noise at most. In my head, I imagine all of the nails sliding out of place in the whole house and the roof collapsing the day after my warranty expires.
The builder called his plaster guy to come out today to FIX these "nail pops". And let me just tell you how it is done, ladies and gentleman. Easier than buttering toast, they flop another tiny layer of plaster over top of it and leave the white spots there for you to paint over yourself. And I can still see the nail heads too.
The hard part about working with a general contractor is that they subcontract each tiny piece of the work. Et voila, they can pass the buck. I suppose I could call the contractor to call his paint subcontractor to come and paint the white spots but it would take awhile for that to be arranged and then they would probably glob up the paint and get paint stains on the floor. I can say the painters were nice/smart enough to leave us with small tins of left over paint to match our colors. I see painting in my very near future.
